Deborah’s Approach to Couples Counselling
Deborah Sheehy has been helping couples work through their relationship challenges since 2008 after she undertook specific training in a range of couples counselling approaches. She later trained to Level 3 in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy.
Her approach is compassionate and evidence-based, tailoring her work to the needs of each couple. Deborah integrates a range of techniques, including methods informed by the renowned Gottman Method, to support couples in building stronger, healthier connections.
The counselling process typically begins with an assessment of your relationship, focusing on how you communicate, the dynamics between you, and the challenges you are facing. From there, Deborah works with you to identify practical strategies to:
- Improve communication and reduce conflict.
- Strengthen intimacy, respect, and understanding.
- Navigate life’s challenges as a team.
- Rebuild trust and connection when it has been lost.
Deborah believes that every relationship has strengths, and through counselling, couples can develop the skills and awareness to overcome obstacles and thrive together.
